MAKE NEW WINDOWS
RES NULLIUS SUNDIAL

Statement:

Res Nullius Sundial is an intervention which invites the viewer to stand in the center of a painted 'spotlight'. The participant acts as the gnomon in the sundial. A painted arrow adjacent to the circle indicates the direction of true north (12:00). When a shadow is cast in relation to the arrow it marks the time of day. The sundial is a proposition, a space where the idea of property is suspended and replaced by the experience of a self-governed moment in the sun. The title is taken from the Latin term, Res Nullius, meaning “nobody’s property.”
